Mother-Daughter Log Cabin
Quilting Retreat Contact for this event: angela.broyles@gmail.com Quilting is a precious art of
yesterday! Join us as we come together in fellowship,
just as our grandmothers and great-grandmothers did years ago. Not only will you learn a
time-honored tradition that you can pass along to future generations, you
will have the opportunity to spend time together sharing stories and
wisdom...the way it used to be handed down before life became so hectic! Date: April 24th-26th Time: 9:00 a.m. -- 4:00 p.m. Location: 1812 CR 111, Killen,
Alabama 35645 Ages: 8 through adult (I love mothers
and daughters in this class. Makes for a great time together! Yes, nursing babies are welcome!) Registration fee: $125.00; SPECIAL
RATE $60 for Creekside families Room & Board: Available for
$20.00 per night donation Supplies needed: sewing machine,
rotary cutter, scissors, 2 spools of off-white heavy thread, cotton quilt
batting, fabrics. You will receive a list of needed fabrics once you have
registered. Our prayer is to provide an
opportunity for women to come together and develop techniques and skills in
the art of quilting. But the real blessing of this camp
will be the devotional time we'll spend together growing closer to the Lord
as we learn more about who we are in Christ!
This is an excellent way for ladies to getaway for a few days or even
a great way to nurture your mother/daughter relationship. This will be a time
to build lasting memories and wonderful skills that you and/or your daughter
will carry throughout your lives! We will begin each day of the camp
with a truth seeking study to encourage Godly womanhood. - Esther: Laying down your life for
your family - Hagar: A Mother's Cry! Crying out before the LORD for the lives of
children - Hannah: Mother Surrendered to the
Lord's will I'm sure every generation believes
their own to be the most challenging.
But the battle with worldly ideas about womanhood seem to be stronger
than ever today. The young women of
today's generation encounter a world-view which degrades the role of
home-making, motherhood and honoring of the male leaders in our lives;
whether it be father or husband. We are going to take a long hard look
at the role of a wife and mother; the value the world attaches to motherhood
and what THE Word of God has to say about motherhood. Motherhood is the highest calling in
the world! Our prayer is, by HIS
grace, you will leave more sure than ever of who you are in Christ
Jesus. Yes, we are also going to be
QUILTING! We are going to have so much
fun! What will you learn about
quilting? We will first talk about the history
of quilting. We will then go over fabrics, and
other supplies you need to be familiar with to continue building your
quilter's tool box. We will begin with all the necessary
steps to piece our quilts. We will be
piecing on a sewing machine, but we will discuss some details to hand
quilting. (Each person or family needs
to bring a sewing machine and be familiar with it's basic use.) You will leave with your quilt
assembled and the first steps of quilting under way. Yes, we love to work with Mother/Daughters,
but also enjoy support groups, Sunday school classes and even groups of Moms
needing a little encouraging get-a-way! Reserve your place in one of our
currently scheduled classes or contact us to schedule your group! If you are new to quilting and want
an economical way to gather these supplies, first ask friends who are
quilters. They may be willing to let you borrow a rotary cutter or other
items. Also, sign up for the Hobby Lobby newsletter online
(http://www.hobbylobby.com/site3/weekly/weekly.cfm) and each week you will
receive their sale flyer and also a valuable coupon. Many times, the coupon
is for 40% off any item. Register by April 20th To register mail to: Angela Broyles 1812 CR 111 Killen, AL 35645 or via paypal.com payment to
angela.broyles@gmail.com When registered, you will receive
directions and a supply list for your quilt.
We look forward to spending this time
with you! |

night will be our End-of-the-Year Program. This is the night when you can
celebrate your child’s accomplishments for the past year. Bring samples of
the work they’ve done (we’ll have tables available for this purpose), award
them certificates, let your child perform or do a demonstration, promote them
to the next grade. Everyone is asked to bring a finger food to share after
the program is over. We will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, in
the gym at Creekside Church, 2315 Roberts Lane, Florence, AL. You DO NOT have
